In the last 6 months, the dynamic and vibrant Venture Center ecosystem has been further enriched with the addition of 25 new budding entrepreneurs, including new startups, thanks to programmes such as NIDHI EIR, NIDHI PRAYAS, and SIIP 2017. Each of them brings fresh ideas and perspective, and we look forward to supporting and mentoring them throughout the year ahead.
NIDHI EIR and NIDHI PRAYAS: The National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) is an umbrella programme conceptualized by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) to support technology-driven startups. The NIDHI-Entrepreneur In Residence (NIDHI-EIR) and NIDHI-PRomotion and Acceleration of Young and Aspiring technology entrepreneurs (NIDHI-PRAYAS) programs are two key components under the NIDHI program.
NIDHI PRAYAS: This prototyping grant makes up for the lack of support for early stage prototyping, helping young innovators turn their ideas into proof-of-concepts.
NIDHI – EIR: A fellowship to inspire the best talents in science and technology to turn entrepreneurs by minimizing the risk involved in pursuing start- ups and partially setting off the opportunity costs of high paying jobs.
As a PRAYAS partner and an EIR execution partner, Venture Center is delighted to welcome and support the following twenty innovators:
SIIP 2017: This year’s theme is the very topical issue of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Waste-to- Value. To execute this project effectively, Venture Center has formally partnered with a number of institutes such as the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. We have had the following 4 fellows join us under this program, and the fellows maintain an active blog (click here) on their experiences and visits to various immersion sites.

Sarvoshadhi Biotech Private Limited 
Sarvoshadhi Biotech Pvt. Ltd., founded by Prasad Rote, works on developing and supplying cell culture media, feeds and other reagents to Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries, thereby supporting them in successful development and commercialization of human therapeutics. Prasad has a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from Northwestern University, Chicago, USA, and comes with 7 years of Biopharma Industrial experience.
SYS3E Technologies Pvt. Ltd
SYS3E Technology innovates in the broad areas of energy, environment and ecology. The company plans to deliver “Combined Heat and Power” from solar energy and convert waste water into drinking water using solar energy for users in rural and semi-urban areas. The company has been founded by Dr. Shilowbhadra Banerjee, ex-director of NML-CSIR and SAIL-RDCIS, Dr. Rajarshi Banerjee, who is the prime innovatpor of the company, and Dr. Sudhir Muthyala, who bring with him experience in strategic business and units operations.
